Confirmation started on September 23, 2020, for students in the 6th through 8th grade with 12 students in attendance. Meetings are being held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the months of September through April. Meetings are being held from 6:00 to 7:00, with some students attending in person and some remotely because of the current pandemic. The confirmation program continues to be a three-year rotational pattern of Old Testament, New Testament, and Lutheran Confessions, with this year’s meetings focused on the New Testament. Our first week session focused on the background and books of the New Testament, and how the New Testament relates to the Old Testament writings. My thanks to Tammy Gregerson for assisting me in these efforts. See pictures below from the first class.
Because of the Covid pandemic, private First Communion sessions were held with the families our incoming 6th grade confirmation class members Addison Brandsetter, Kale King, and Christopher Smith.
A “Pen Pal” program replaced the normal in person Synod Middle School Youth Gathering based upon the pandemic. The following confirmands participated in this program in a letter exchange over the four months of January through April, 2021. The confirmands, their pen pal names, church, and location is pictured below.
